Becky, a member of ipswich community church and a third year student at Brookes campaigned for a Channel 4 project called Battlefront with her friend Siobhan during 2008/9. They were filmed for a half an hour documentary about their exciting journey, which was aired on Channel 4 in 2009.
the campaign
It is entitled 'Make a BIG change with your small change ' and stems from their experiences of working in a slum in Nairobi, Kenya, where thousands of children are unable to afford school, yet as little as 15p can send a child to school for a whole day! It aims to help people to realise the immense difference each of us really can make in our world, even by doing something so simple as collecting our small change in a pot each day. They hope that everybody will find a cause that they truly believe in and want to support, and will collect their small change, to make a massive difference to that cause.
Members of icc are involved in a sponsorship scheme funding the education of children from disadvantaged backgrounds in Nairobi.
